Description

  • Title:GED Instructor
  • Location: PINE BLUFF, AR
  • Duration: 3+ Months Contract
 
Pay Rate: $40/hour on W2
Schedule: Thursday 3: 00 PM - 4: 30 PM
Hours: 5 instructional hours per week

Position listed for 14 weeks but will likely be extended.

Please note- this position is between 2-5 hours per week only. There will also be an additional 30 minutes of prep time each week and there may be a 30-minute monthly meeting. Confirm the schedule with your candidate before submitting.

Duties
•Teach High School Equivalency Materials & Test Prep to frontline team members at a *** facility.
•Create and develop materials associated with the courses taught.
•Attend Upward Academy partner meetings, faculty meetings, and trainings to stay updated and enhance teaching skills.
•Participate in recruitment events and culminating activities to support the program and engage with the community.

Required Qualifications
•Knowledge of teaching strategies and methods: Including Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies
•Native-like fluency: Good command of written and spoken English.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools: Essential for managing course materials and communication.

Preferred Qualifications
•Education and Experience:
o Bachelor's degree: In English, teaching, or a related field.
o 3 years teaching experience: In High School Equivalency for adult education.
•Special Skills:
o Strong classroom management skills: Organizational and planning skills, ability to give clear, concise directions and explanations.
o Proficiency in a second language: Enhances communication with students from diverse backgrounds.
o Cross-cultural sensitivity: Essential for understanding and addressing the needs of students from various cultural backgrounds.
o Excellent technology application skills and experience: To integrate technology effectively into teaching.
