This position is located in Kaycee, WY. The GEAR UP Wyoming Success Coach is responsible for advising/mentoring students in 7-12 grades in the public schools, serving as a point of contact with program participants (including families), providing programming and resources to help students learn about postsecondary education options, promoting a college-going culture in the Johnson County School District, providing academic supports, assisting students in filling out college admissions, financial aid, and scholarship applications and helping students determine a "college fit", acting as a liaison and representing GEAR UP within the school district, maintaining program enrollment, negotiating access and arrangements for programming within the schools, assisting with the development of age appropriate programming and career exploration opportunities and hosting monthly workshops in the schools in accordance with grant objectives to suit the needs of the schools they serve for GEAR UP Wyoming.

Note: There is opportunity to work in the summer if desired.

Reports To GEAR UP Site Coordinator Education/Qualifications

  • Associate's degree preferred or experience in education, counseling, or related field.
  • Background check and child abuse clearances required before entering school
  • Ability to promote a college-going culture
  • Ability to speak Spanish not required, but is desirable

Job Duties

Assisting with identification and selection of program participants and promoting GEAR UP in the community, including managing social media pages.

Representing GEAR UP within the school district and making arrangements for access to students, acting as a liaison between school administration, staff, andGEAR UP coordinator
