Position OverviewSeeking a skilled Gear Engineer to design and optimize precision plastic gear systems for customer applications. This role is responsible for developing gear designs, evaluating gear performance, supporting tooling/manufacturing, and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure products meet customer and quality requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign single gears and complete gear mesh systems based on customer requirementsDevelop optimized gear designs for performance, wear, strength, and tolerance requirementsCreate gear data sheets for inspection and manufacturingApply shrinkage factors to plastic gear cavity/tooling dataDevelop wire paths for spur gears, pulleys, and other gear cavitiesDesign electrodes, hobs, and tooling data for helical, worm, and screw cavitiesDesign gear trains for unscrewing moldsReview inspection results and determine tool rework vs. deviation recommendationsModify cavity/tooling data based on inspection feedbackCollaborate with Sales, Program Management, Quality, Tool Room, Molding, and CustomersProvide technical support on new gear applications and customer product developmentTravel as needed to support customers/projectsQualificationsBS in Engineering or related technical field OR 10+ years of relevant gear/quality engineering experienceStrong knowledge of gear design principles and quality systemsExperience with plastic injection molded gears strongly preferredProduct design and tool design experience is a plusStrong communication and cross-functional collaboration skillsPreferred Software / Technical ExperienceSolidWorksKISSsoftTK SolverWeb GearMicrosoft Excel / WordExperience with internal/ERP engineering systemsInspection / Metrology Knowledge PreferredCMMDouble flank gear checkerMicrometers / Calipers / Height Gauges / Gage PinsVisual inspection methodsPhysical RequirementsPrimarily seated/desk-based engineering roleOccasional standing, walking, and light lifting up to 25 lbs
