Language Interpreter
POSITION PURPOSE: Perform accurate and effective interpretation among all parties involved.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs Consecutive Interpreting
- Interpretation is delivered immediately after the source is presented, i.e. English speaker says a few phrases, interpreter delivers the message to non-English speaker, and vice versa.)
- Performs Sight Translation
- This oral translation of written documents such as enrollment forms, information release forms, etc., is done on the spot, as needed.)
- Interprets in situations where conflict or sharing of sensitive information may be involved.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Being fluent in the two languages being interpreted
- Pass an interpreter test
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ensures that accurate, effective communication occurs among all parties.
- Interprets without omitting, adding to, or altering anything said or written.
- Has some relevant experience
- Understands and upholds the rights of all parties and respects the confidentiality of the communication.
- Flexible
- Shows knowledge of cultures involved
- Comfortable with public speaking
HOURS: As needed
SALARY: $21.00 per hour
BENEFITS: This position is not eligible for benefits.
