Position Summary:
The Medical Office Specialist is responsible for creating a positive patient experience while managing front office operations efficiently. This role includes patient scheduling, insurance verification, phone management, check-in/check-out procedures, and general administrative support within a busy GI practice.
Responsibilities:
Greet and assist patients in a professional and friendly manner.
Answer incoming calls and route messages appropriately.
Schedule office visits, procedures, and follow-up appointments.
Obtain prior authorizations when needed.
Collect copays, balances, and patient demographic information.
Maintain accurate patient records in the EMR system.
Coordinate with providers, medical assistants, and billing staff.
Handle referrals, medical records requests, and patient forms.
Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
Assist with additional administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Previous medical office or healthcare experience preferred.
