Description

Jireh Semiconductor is seeking an experienced Specialty Gas Systems Technician to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability of critical specialty gas delivery systems at our semiconductor manufacturing facility in Hillsboro, Oregon.

We are looking for a skilled, hands-on technician with a strong technical maintenance background, advanced troubleshooting capabilities, and the motivation to grow into a technical leadership role.

This position offers the opportunity to develop into a lead technician role in approximately 12 months, based on demonstrated technical proficiency, leadership ability, and business needs.

While direct specialty gas systems experience is highly valued, we also welcome experienced semiconductor equipment maintenance technicians, particularly those with backgrounds in thin films, deposition equipment, or other semiconductor process equipment. Candidates with strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and controls troubleshooting skills may bring valuable transferable experience to this position.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex technical problems, takes ownership of equipment reliability, and is interested in developing the skills necessary to guide and support other technicians.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Specialty Gas Systems Maintenance & Troubleshooting

    • Perform daily hazardous and inert gas cylinder changeouts in accordance with established safety procedures and operating protocols.
    • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on specialty gas delivery systems, including gas cabinets, valve manifold boxes (VMBs), valve manifold panels (VMPs), and associated distribution equipment.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, instrumentation, and control-related failures involving valves, regulators, sensors, pressure controls, and other system components.
    • Respond to equipment alarms, identify root causes, and safely restore systems to operation while minimizing manufacturing downtime.
    • Perform equipment inspections, functional testing, system verification, and documentation of maintenance activities in accordance with established procedures.

    Equipment Reliability & Technical Collaboration

    • Collaborate with facilities technicians, manufacturing personnel, and Chemical Engineering to troubleshoot equipment issues and develop plans and procedures for resolving new or complex system problems.
    • Identify recurring equipment failures and recommend corrective actions, preventive maintenance improvements, and reliability enhancements.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment performance, maintenance efficiency, and operational safety.

    Professional Development & Leadership Growth

    • Develop advanced specialty gas systems expertise and demonstrate increasing independence in troubleshooting and maintenance coordination.
    • Build leadership skills through technical knowledge sharing, mentoring, and supporting other technicians.
    • Work with facilities leadership to establish development goals and progressively take on additional responsibilities in preparation for a potential lead technician role.

    Safety & Compliance

    • Follow established safety procedures for hazardous production materials (HPM), specialty gas systems, and daily gas cylinder changeouts.
    • Comply with environmental, health, and safety requirements, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), personal protective equipment (PPE), and approved maintenance procedures.
    • Identify and address potential safety hazards while promoting safe work practices and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting experience in a semiconductor manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of relevant technical experience, education, and training.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting specialty gas systems, semiconductor process equipment, or closely related industrial systems.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and equipment troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose complex equipment failures and perform corrective maintenance.
  • Experience maintaining critical equipment in a semiconductor fabrication or comparable high-tech manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, equipment manuals, and maintenance procedures.
  • Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing safety practices, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively with technicians, engineers, and manufacturing personnel.
  • Ability and willingness to learn specialized gas delivery systems and associated safety requirements.
  • Interest in professional development and taking on additional technical leadership responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience maintaining and troubleshooting semiconductor specialty gas delivery systems, including gas cabinets, VMBs, VMPs, and associated distribution equipment.
  • Semiconductor equipment maintenance experience in thin films, deposition, CVD, PVD, ALD, or similar process equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting gas delivery components, pressure controls, valves, sensors, and equipment interlocks.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor gas handling systems, hazardous production materials, and high-purity manufacturing environments.
  • Experience reading piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), electrical schematics, and equipment drawings.
  • Experience performing root-cause analysis and implementing equipment reliability improvements.
  • Experience mentoring other technicians, coordinating maintenance activities, or serving as a technical resource.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Technical degree, military technical training, apprenticeship, or equivalent relevant technical experience.
