Major Duties and Responsibilities
This position is responsible for reporting staff payroll; supervising employees; making hiring recommendations; conducts performance appraisals; arranges employees work schedules.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum Educational and Training Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Parks and Recreation, Leisure Management, or related field is required. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with two years of experience or service. Lifeguard Certification is recommended. Certified Pool/Spa Operator (CPO), First Aid, CPR, and AED for adults, children, and infants are required. Valid drivers license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment required.
Physical Requirements
The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, walking, or climbing a ladder. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects up to one hundred pounds; uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity; must be able to distinguish between shades of color and utilize the sense of smell. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
The work is typically performed in an office, computer room, Aquatic Center, or outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather and/or in hot humid environments. The employee may be exposed to loud noise, dust, machinery with moving parts, and irritating chemicals. The work may require the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves.

Retirement Plan
The Columbus Consolidated Government offers a defined benefit retirement plan to eligible employees who work in General Government and in Public Safety. Employees in the pension plan must meet both age and years of service requirements to qualify for retirement. The current vesting period is ten years, and the current pension contribution rate is 8% of your gross salary.
