Summary Description:

Under supervision of the Social Service Supervisor, assists in recruiting and enrolling eligible families for the Prekindergarten/Head Start program. Develops, monitors, and supports provides follow up to implementation of Family Partnership Agreements (FPA^s) for Head Start families. Maintain computer databases to track contacts with families and progress towards goals in the FPA, and to generate monthly reports, FPA^s, registration, and enrollments. Coordinates access to community resources information and follow-up. Provides crisis intervention when necessary. Plans and implements parent training sessions in areas such as literacy, violence prevention, and child development. Maintains confidential family records. Provides other support services when necessary. Physical Demands: Ability to handle materials and equipment necessary to conduct parent training sessions. Crisis intervention may require transporting emergency food, clothing, etc., to families. Ability to conduct home visit and meet with families in the community. Special Requirements: Occasional evening or Saturday registration work or work with families may be required.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).

Education Training Experience:

High School or GED diploma required. Associates degree preferred. Coursework in early childhood development, social services, or related field required. Experience in family service or community action programs. Experience working with current office computing hardware and software products required. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.Certificate License:Possession of a valid Maryland noncommercial Class-C driver^s license.
