Job description:

The role of Library Assistant II assists the Access Services Librarian with the daily operations of the Hillsboro Library which includes helping patrons, tidying the library space, pulling and shelving books, as well as navigating library software to fulfill interlibrary materials requests.

Job duties include:

  • Customer service including answering the library main phone line
  • Assisting staff in shelving and pulling library materials, performing tasks such as processing Summit requests (shipping, receiving, returning), checking materials in/out, and processing Interlibrary Loan (ILL) requests by navigating various software and databases.
  • Assisting patrons in locating materials in the stacks, searching for misplaced items, answering questions and giving directions.
  • Assisting staff in shifting collections (as well as other collection maintenance tasks) and/or scanning of materials for electronic use.
  • May include pushing heavy book carts, reading, stooping, and repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and arms.
  • Basic troubleshooting of library technology: printers, scanners, copiers, etc.
