Mailroom Student Employee - Hillsboro Campus HPC2
Position Summary
The Mailroom Student Employee supports the daily operations of the Hillsboro Campus Mailroom by providing reliable, accurate, and customer-focused mail and package services to students, faculty, staff, and university departments. This position assists with receiving, sorting, processing, and distributing mail and packages while helping maintain an efficient, organized, and welcoming mailroom environment.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, organized, and able to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive, sort, and organize incoming mail and packages from USPS, UPS, FedEx, Amazon, and other carriers.
- Process incoming packages using the university's mail tracking system and prepare them for customer pickup.
- Assist students, faculty, staff, and campus departments with mail and package inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
- Verify identification and follow established procedures when releasing packages.
- Maintain accurate package records and ensure all mail and packages are properly organized and stored.
- Deliver mail and packages to campus departments as assigned.
- Prepare outgoing mail and shipments using approved shipping procedures.
- Operate mailroom equipment, including postage meters, shipping software, barcode scanners, and other related equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Handle confidential and sensitive materials with discretion and in accordance with university policies.
- Provide excellent customer service while representing Mail Services in a positive and professional manner.
- Assist with increased mail and package volume during student move-in, orientation, and other peak periods.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout a work shift.
- Previous customer service, warehouse, or mailroom experience is preferred but not required.

Length of Employment:
Academic year position (Fall and Spring semesters), with the opportunity for continued employment based on performance, departmental needs, and student eligibility. Summer employment may be available.

- Experience working in a team environment.
