    Description

    • Operate Equipment: Monitor and adjust furnace controls, fuel valves, electric current, and temperature gauges to maintain precise heat levels. 
    • Load and Unload: Charge raw materials, metal slabs, or parts into the furnace using hoists, cranes, or forklifts. [1, 2]
    • Monitor Processes: Watch computerized panels, gauges, or the color of molten metal to ensure proper melting or heat-treating.
    • Take Samples: Draw metal samples at regular intervals for quality and chemistry testing. [1, 2]
    • Maintain Safety: Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), keep the work area clean, and inspect equipment for wear or defects. 
    • Record Data: Log production amounts, temperatures, and materials used during each shift. 
    • Experience: Six months to one year of manufacturing or warehouse experience.
      • Physical Strength: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
      • Certifications: Forklift or overhead crane operation experience or licensure is often preferred.
      • Technical Skills: Basic math skills and the ability to read operating manuals and blueprints
