ABOUT THE ROLE

A growing alternative investment services firm is seeking a Fund Accounting Manager to oversee a portfolio of private investment fund clients and serve as the primary relationship manager between clients and internal operations teams. This role combines fund accounting expertise, operational oversight, and client relationship management, offering an opportunity to move beyond technical accounting into a broader leadership position.

The Client Manager will be responsible for coordinating fund administration activities, reviewing key client deliverables, managing timelines, and ensuring exceptional service across multiple fund structures. The ideal candidate will have experience within private equity, private credit, venture capital, or alternative investment fund accounting and a desire to take on greater client-facing responsibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of private investment fund clients
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of client fund structures, operating procedures, and governing documents
  • Coordinate internal teams to ensure timely completion of fund administration deliverables
  • Oversee fund activities including capital calls, distributions, allocations, valuations, cash management, and management fee calculations
  • Review financial statements, investor reporting packages, and other client deliverables prior to senior leadership review
  • Manage client communications and respond to operational, accounting, and reporting inquiries
  • Monitor project timelines and ensure all reporting deadlines are met
  • Identify operational risks, service issues, and process inefficiencies while driving resolution across internal teams
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and ongoing support
  • Mentor and support junior team members while promoting quality and consistency across deliverables
  • Assist with workflow enhancements, process improvement initiatives, and internal control adherence

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in fund accounting, fund administration, private equity operations, or alternative investment services
  • Strong understanding of private equity, private credit, venture capital, or alternative investment fund structures
  • Experience reviewing financial statements, investor reporting, and fund accounting deliverables
  • Knowledge of partnership accounting, capital activity, allocations, and fund operations
  • Proven ability to manage multiple client relationships and competing deadlines
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Prior experience managing, mentoring, or developing team members preferred
  • CPA designation or progress toward certification is a plus
