Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fund Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Venture Capital and Private Equity accounting, with 2-5 years of relevant work experience. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge investment strategies and contribute to the financial success of our firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day accounting operations for multiple Venture Capital and Private Equity funds
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Calculate and record management fees, carried interest, and other fund-related expenses
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closings for assigned funds
  • Reconcile bank statements, investment accounts, and other financial records
  • Assist in the preparation of investor reports, capital calls, and distributions
  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and tax preparation processes
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies
  • Participate in the valuation process for portfolio companies
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with investment teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes
  • Maintain accurate records of fund investments, including capital commitments, drawdowns, and distributions
  • Prepare and analyze financial performance metrics for funds and individual investments
  • Assist in the preparation of materials for investment committee meetings and board presentations
  • Stay current with industry trends, accounting standards, and regulatory changes affecting Venture Capital and Private Equity funds

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 2-5 years of work experience in fund accounting, with a focus on Venture Capital and Private Equity
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred:

  • CPA certification or progress towards obtaining CPA
  • Experience with fund administration software (e.g., eFront, Investran, or similar)
  • Knowledge of partnership taxation and related regulations
  • Familiarity with alternative investment structures and vehicles

Key Skills and Competencies

  • In-depth knowledge of Venture Capital and Private Equity accounting principles and practices
  • Strong understanding of fund structures, including limited partnerships and carried interest calculations
