The Fund Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records for investment funds, preparing financial statements, and supporting investor and regulatory reporting. This role ensures proper tracking of fund activity, including investments, capital contributions, and distributions.
Fund Accountants work closely with fund controllers, operations teams, portfolio managers, and auditors to maintain the financial integrity of investment vehicles.
Record and reconcile daily fund activity, including trades, capital calls, distributions, and fees
Maintain accurate general ledger and trial balances for multiple funds
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP
Support fund audits and liaise with external auditors
Assist with investor reporting, including statements, capital activity, and performance summaries
Reconcile bank accounts, brokerage statements, and investment positions
Ensure compliance with fund governing documents, partnership agreements, and regulatory requirements
Assist with ad-hoc reporting and financial analysis as needed
Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in fund accounting
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field; CPA preferred but not required
Experience in fund accounting, investment operations, or related financial roles
Knowledge of fund structures such as private equity, venture capital, or hedge funds preferred
Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with fund accounting software (e.g., Investran, eFront, Geneva) a plus
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and funds in a fast-paced environment
Clear written and verbal communication skills
