At Mad Science, we are having a blast!
Through a blend of education and entertainment, you will lead students through inquiry-based discovery methods involving instructor demonstrations, hands-on activities, and take-home projects that will illustrate how science affects the world around us.
We are looking for HIGHLY ENERGETIC and DYNAMIC individuals to join our growing team to conduct exciting programming. You do not need to be a certified teacher, but experience working with groups of elementary-aged students is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitating day camps, in-person workshops, and after-school science enrichment programs for students TK - 5th grade.
- Deliver hands on, high-energy, part entertainment/part education programs that meet for one hour each week for approximately 8-12 weeks.
- Drive to various locations across Los Angeles County and various Southern California locations
- Attend paid training sessions virtually or at our office.
- Attend the mandatory Friday Staff Meeting every week (paid).
- Be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Be on time for all scheduled activities.
- Adhere to strict safety and cleanliness guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching/ working with groups of elementary-age (4-12) children (such as an after-school teacher or camp counselor).
- THEATRE EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS!
- Be at least 18 years old
- Available a minimum of three consistent weekdays from 12-5pm (15-hours)
- While this is a part-time position, it is critical that you are able to commit to the length of any given program (school season, camp session, after-school program, etc.), and that you are able to give us steady weekly availability.
- Have an insured, personal vehicle as you will be transporting equipment and conducting programs at schools and organizations across Los Angeles County and various Southern California locations
- Be available for mandatory Friday meeting, 11am-12pm
- Minimum of 1 year of college suggested. Degrees and/or graduate degrees are a plus.

This is a part-time position and is somewhat seasonal, as we follow the school year.
Pay for all Areas of Business (AOB) is hourly - including set-up and clean-up time.
Starting pay is $22.00-$25.00 per hour DOE, plus mileage compensation!
