Speech Language Pathologist Job Description

  • Evaluate patients for speech, language, communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders

  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and clinical assessments

  • Provide speech, language, cognitive, communication, and dysphagia therapy

  • Perform swallowing evaluations and recommend appropriate treatment strategies

  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary

  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapy techniques and continued care

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, case management, and other healthcare professionals

  • Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and patient conferences

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory standards

  • Assist patients in achieving the highest possible level of communication and functional independence

  • Follow all applicable state, federal, and facility policies and procedures

Education & Certification Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program

  • Current or eligible Texas Speech-Language Pathologist license

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology CCC-SLP preferred

  • Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or required based on facility policy

  • Strong communication, assessment, documentation, and patient-care skills

  • Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team

  • New graduates may be considered depending on facility requirements
