Full-Time Respiratory Therapy Director – Havre, MT

    Location: Havre, Montana
    Position Type: Full-Time
Specialty: Respiratory Therapy / Healthcare Leadership
Experience Level: Experienced Respiratory Therapist with Leadership Experience

    Job Overview

Connected Health Care, a leading recruitment and healthcare staffing firm, is partnering with a healthcare organization in Havre, Montana, to recruit an experienced Respiratory Therapy Director for a full-time leadership opportunity. This position is ideal for a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) who is ready to take the next step in their career by combining clinical expertise with department leadership, operational oversight, and quality improvement.

The Respiratory Therapy Director will primarily focus on administrative and departmental management responsibilities, with occasional hands-on clinical support when patient volumes are high. The role may also include dedicating a morning or afternoon each week to pulmonary function testing (PFTs). This is an excellent opportunity for a respiratory care professional who enjoys leading a team, improving clinical operations, and maintaining a connection to patient care without spending the majority of their time on the floor.

Candidates with approximately five years of respiratory therapy experience and at least one year of leadership experience are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities – Respiratory Therapy Director

    • Department Leadership: Oversee daily respiratory therapy department operations, ensuring efficient workflows, high-quality patient care, and adherence to organizational policies.
    • Administrative Management: Coordinate departmental activities, manage operational priorities, support staffing and scheduling, and help maintain appropriate resource allocation.
    • Clinical Quality and Compliance: Promote adherence to respiratory care protocols, patient safety standards, infection prevention practices, and applicable regulatory requirements.
    • Staff Development: Provide leadership, guidance, and support to respiratory therapy staff while fostering a collaborative and patient-centered work environment.
    • Performance Improvement: Monitor departmental processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement initiatives that support clinical quality and operational efficiency.
    • Pulmonary Function Testing: Perform or assist with PFTs as needed, potentially dedicating one morning or afternoon per week to scheduled testing.
    • Clinical Support: Provide occasional hands-on respiratory therapy assistance during periods of increased patient volume or when additional floor coverage is needed.
    • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, nursing staff, hospital leadership, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate respiratory care services.
    • Policy and Procedure Oversight: Support the development, review, and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
    • Equipment and Resource Management: Help oversee respiratory care equipment, supplies, and departmental resources to support safe and effective patient care.
    • Patient-Centered Care: Maintain a commitment to excellent respiratory care outcomes, professional standards, and positive patient experiences.

    Education and Certification Requirements

    • Associate or bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited respiratory care program; bachelor's degree preferred.
    • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) preferred.
    • Current Respiratory Therapist licensure in Montana, or eligibility to obtain the required Montana license before beginning employment.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or the ability to obtain it within the employer's required timeframe.
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred, depending on departmental and facility requirements.
    • Additional respiratory care credentials, pulmonary function testing experience, or relevant specialty certifications are beneficial.

    Required and Preferred Experience

    • Approximately five years of respiratory therapy experience preferred.
    • At least one year of leadership, supervisory, charge therapist, or management experience preferred.
    • Demonstrated understanding of respiratory therapy clinical practices, patient care standards, and departmental workflows.
    • Experience with administrative responsibilities, staff coordination, quality improvement, or healthcare operations is highly desirable.
    • Familiarity with pulmonary function testing, respiratory diagnostics, and related equipment is an advantage.
    • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and team leadership skills.
    • Ability to balance administrative responsibilities with occasional direct clinical support.
    • Commitment to patient safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous professional development.

What Makes This Respiratory Therapy Leadership Opportunity Unique?

    • Primarily Administrative Role: Focus on department operations, leadership, quality, and process improvement rather than routine full-time floor coverage.
    • Maintain Clinical Skills: Stay connected to patient care through occasional clinical assistance and periodic PFT responsibilities.
    • Leadership Career Advancement: Apply your respiratory therapy experience in a director-level position with opportunities to influence departmental performance and care delivery.
    • Meaningful Healthcare Impact: Help support respiratory services and collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
    • Full-Time Stability: Pursue a full-time healthcare leadership opportunity in a Montana community.
    • Balanced Clinical and Administrative Focus: Enjoy a role that combines leadership and operational responsibilities with selective hands-on clinical work.
