Connected Health Care is partnering with a respected healthcare organization to recruit a skilled Full Time Physician Assistant – Orthopedic Surgery for an exciting opportunity in Mammoth Lakes, CA. This is an excellent opportunity for a Physician Assistant with orthopedic experience who enjoys a dynamic clinical environment and wants to practice in one of California’s premier mountain communities.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in orthopedic surgery, with a background in total joint and knee procedures, sports medicine, and acute orthopedic injuries. Experience treating ski and sports-related injuries is especially valuable given the unique patient population and outdoor recreation opportunities in the region.

This role is not primarily geriatric-focused and offers the opportunity to work with a diverse orthopedic patient population.

Job Description

  • Provide comprehensive orthopedic care in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons and the broader healthcare team.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients presenting with orthopedic conditions and injuries.
  • Assist with the management of patients undergoing total joint and knee procedures.
  • Evaluate and treat sports-related injuries, including injuries associated with skiing, snowboarding, and other athletic activities.
  • Participate in the assessment and treatment of acute orthopedic injuries and musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Assist orthopedic surgeons with surgical procedures and provide appropriate perioperative patient care.
  • Perform patient histories, physical examinations, and orthopedic assessments.
  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic studies and laboratory testing within the scope of practice.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and clinical findings.
  • Provide preoperative and postoperative patient education and follow-up care.
  • Monitor patient recovery and adjust treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
  • Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Educate patients regarding injury prevention, rehabilitation, treatment options, and postoperative recovery.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered orthopedic care in a collaborative clinical environment.

Orthopedic Experience Preferred

  • Three years of Orthopedic experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience in orthopedic surgery is strongly preferred.
  • Background in total joint, knee, sports medicine, or musculoskeletal care is highly desirable.
  • Experience treating skiing, snowboarding, and other sports-related injuries is a strong advantage.
  • Candidates comfortable working with an active, non-geriatric patient population are encouraged to apply.

Education and Certification Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program required.
  • Current California Physician Assistant license required.
  • DEA license required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • NCCPA certification preferred or required according to applicable organizational standards.
  • Orthopedic surgery experience is highly preferred, with three or more years of orthopedic experience strongly preferred.
  • Must demonstrate excellent clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
