Housekeeping Job Description
Primary Accountabilities:
The housekeeper will manage activities relating to the cleanliness of the facility. Assists employees and maintenance with internal moves and resident areas. Must work closely with the Housekeeping Supervisor and Environmental Services Director
1. Primarily responsible for the general cleaning of public areas, residents' rooms, and offices. Public areas are defined as lobbies, nursing stations, medicine rooms, consultation rooms, bathing rooms, public restrooms, corridors, elevators and stairwells.
2. Dusts and polishes all surfaces, including high and horizontal surfaces, furniture and accessories in public areas and residents' rooms.
3. Spot cleans carpets, walls, doors, and other painted surfaces in public areas and residents' rooms.
4. Cleans and sanitizes public restrooms and residents' bathrooms.
5. Maintains supplies in public restrooms and residents' bathrooms.
6. Follows Infection Control Policy and Procedures
7. Dusts personal belongings in place (picture frames, knick-knacks, etc.).
8. Thoroughly cleans residents' beds as assigned.
9. Empties and cleans trash cans, replaces liners.
10. Dry mops, wet mops and vacuums.
11. Completes discharge cleaning as assigned.
12. Complies with Precautions Policy and Procedures.
13. Any other additional duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:
Six months practical experience.
EDUCATION:
High School diploma or equivalent or six months practical experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Eighty-five to ninety percent of shift is spent walking, bending, stretching, unassisted lifting -up to 25 pounds daily.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must have friendly, helpful attitude. Must be sincere, pleasant and hospitable to residents, staff and visitors. Basic reading skills required and/or must be able to identify, read and understand product labels, instructions and safety materials and follow written schedules as assigned. Complies with OSHA and all other Federal, State, and Local regulations applicable to this position.
A valid state of residence driver's license is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Conditions may occasional be uncomfortable due to warm and cold temperatures or unpleasant conditions in public restrooms, resident bathrooms, etc.
Professional and deadline-oriented environment in a residential setting.
Interaction with older adults with varying levels of ability
Team environment.
Possible exposure to chemicals rated on Material Safety Data Sheets.
