Apply now to begin your journey as a Full-Time Head Teacher in a preK classroom at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Educational Child Care Center. Each day as a Head Teacher you will share your passion for educating young children while having fun and experiencing the Y's unique, innovative and supportive environment. Work with a team of child care professionals to make a difference in the lives of children and families, creating high-quality, developmentally appropriate programs for children.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
  • Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans. Provides supervision, direction and leadership to Lead Teachers, Classroom Teachers and Teacher's Assistants.
  • Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
  • Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
  • Conducts parent-teacher conferences twice a year.
  • Maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents through daily interaction, newsletters, and parent meetings. Engages parents as volunteers and create positive connection
  • Supervises, trains and evaluates the work of classroom's teaching personnel.
  • Maintains program site and equipment including ensuring necessary supplies are in stock, organizing and decorating classrooms.

Pay: $21.47+ per hour, depending on education and experience

Hours: Monday-Friday 7:30am - 3:30pm

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education and/or Elementary Education
  • NJ Teacher Certification
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate

program activities.

  • Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships

with people from different backgrounds.
