Full-Time Fire Life & Safety Director (FLSD)

Location: Manhattan, NY
Schedule:  Monday through Friday with alternating Saturdays

Pay Rate:$27.00/hour

Position Details:

The Fire Life & Safety Director (FLSD) is responsible for overseeing all fire and life safety operations within a residential property in Manhattan. This role ensures full compliance with FDNY regulations, internal emergency procedures, and building safety protocols. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, composed under pressure, and capable of leading emergency response efforts while maintaining a professional presence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the designated Fire Life & Safety Director, ensuring compliance with all FDNY codes and regulations

  • Respond immediately to fire alarms, emergencies, and life safety incidents, coordinating response efforts as required

  • Monitor and operate fire life safety systems, access control, CCTV, and alarm systems

  • Conduct inspections of post areas, safety equipment, and security systems to ensure operational readiness

  • Review daily memos, alerts, and security notifications to remain informed of building conditions

  • Maintain accurate daily logs, reports, and incident documentation

  • Communicate clearly with the Operations Desk, property management, and leadership regarding incidents or deficiencies

  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, alertness, and situational awareness at all times

Requirements:

  • Valid NYS Fire Life & Safety Director Certification (F-89 or equivalent) – Required

  • Valid NYS Security Guard License – Required

  • Minimum 1 year of fire life safety or building security experience

  • Strong emergency response, leadership, and communication skills

  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations
