Charlotte’s Best Nanny Agency is assisting a family in the South Park area (currently in a rental home, looking to purchase a home in Dilworth, Myers Park, or Elizabeth) in finding a Full-Time Family Assistant for their family, which includes two daughters, ages two years old and 3 months old. The Family Assistant would typically be needed Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 6:00 pm. It is important that the Family Assistant is flexible to come in early or stay late, work babysitting needs as needed, and travel with the family on a few vacations a year.
The best Family Assistant for this family would be an experienced, proactive caregiver who specializes in caring for both newborns and toddlers, ideally someone with newborn care specialist (NCS) experience or equivalent hands-on expertise. This Family Assistant should be highly skilled in supporting the needs of their 3-month-old child while simultaneously engaging with their toddler, with a proven track record of caring for multiple young children at the same time (preferably a toddler and a baby together).
A Family Assistant candidate who demonstrates a strong knowledge and passion for newborn and toddler care, early childhood development, Montessori-inspired practices, safe sleep best practices, age-appropriate developmental activities, and baby-led weaning would be a great fit for this position. Familiarity with the latest baby and toddler-related technology and tools is required as well.
Each day, the Family Assistant should understand how to balance engaging, enriching activities with opportunities for independent play, encouraging both curiosity and self-confidence. The older child is attending Montessori preschool three mornings a week this fall. Pick-up and drop-off will be handled by the parents or Family Assistant each day. While the older child is in school, the Family Assistant should provide dedicated one-on-one time with the infant and foster an educational environment. There will be times that the baby is with the mom and the Family Assistant would not have any childcare responsibilities; during these times, the family requests assistance with meal prep, family laundry, light tidying, errands, etc. Childcare is always the first priority.
Daily activities include age-appropriate outings such as walks, parks, music classes, museums, play gyms, and creative crafts, as well as singing, reading, and introducing new games and sensory play. The Family Assistant will collaborate with a stay-at-home mom who remains involved throughout the day, while maintaining clear boundaries to support the children’s independence and reduce separation anxiety. The best candidate will be passionate about providing high-quality, nurturing care that supports the growth and development of both children simultaneously.
Childcare Responsibilities Include:
Meeting daily scheduling needs of the children (Feeding, changing, Napping)
Engaging with the children on an age-appropriate level
Playing with the children both inside and outside the home
Researching and doing hands-on learning activities and crafts with the children
Household Duties Include (Children are priority):

Pets: The family has a cat. There is no care needed for the cat unless the family is traveling. If the family is traveling, the Family Assistant will be asked to come to the home once a day to feed the cat and scoop the litter box. If the Family Assistant is asked to care for the cat on the weekends, outside of the regular work hours, the Family Assistant will be paid an additional pet sitting fee.
