Board Member, Board of Directors

Board Members provide strategic oversight, support the President, ensure AGS's mission, values, and financial health are upheld, and promote AGS's community impact.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Governance:

Provide strategic guidance and ensure alignment with AGS's mission. Review key performance metrics; approve budgets, audits, ensure legal and fiduciary compliance, participate in the President's annual evaluation; and represent AGS external stakeholders.

Board Term & Commitment:

Serve a three-year term that includes attending six Board meetings and two strategic planning events per year. Participate in standing and ad hoc committees, attend college events, help identify and recruit prospective board members to foster diversity, and remain informed about trends in mental health and higher education.

Philanthropy:

Prioritize AGS as a philanthropic commitment by making an annual contribution at a personally meaningful level, with a goal of 100% board participation in giving.

Compensation:

This is a volunteer role. AGS provides reimbursement for in-state travel, accommodations, and administrative support related to board service.

Full-Time Faculty

Adler Graduate School announces a full-time Assistant / Core Faculty position opening in the Council for the Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accredited Counseling Program for the M.A. in Counseling. We will consider all qualified candidates, with preference given to those with a strong background in counseling children and adolescents and marriage, couples, and family therapy, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment. This faculty position can be online/ remote. Applicants must have the ability to travel to the main campus (Minnetonka, MN). The selected candidate would start in January 2027.

Faculty members will join a team of counselor educators who emphasize Adlerian Psychology, fostering encouragement and collaboration guided by social interest within the student body and the community.

This is a continuous 12-month position that includes teaching, academic advising, engagement in scholarship and service, and participation in the management of Adler Graduate School through shared governance. The faculty are responsible for program development, implementation, and evaluation to meet professional standards and fulfill the mission of AGS.

Salary Range: Salary Range: $78,750- $87,150 based on qualifications and experience.

Essential Functions:

• Teaching (load of 33 credit hours per year, inclusive of summer assignments) in different formats at different times.
• Attendance at monthly faculty meetings and college-wide meetings.
• Mentoring and advising students.
• Professional, Community, and College/AGS-based service.
• Scholarship (Research, Curriculum/ course development, Publishing in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters)

Qualifications/Skills:

• Earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program or a doctorate in a related field and experience as a full-time faculty member in a counseling program for at least a year prior to July 2013. Must meet CACREP requirements for a core faculty member.
• Licensed mental health professional (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist preferred).
• Professional identity within the counseling profession through membership and engagement in professional organizations pertinent to counseling (e.g., ACA, ACES, and/or sub-divisions and/or state equivalents)
• Commitment to the field of counseling as evidenced by educational background, publications in peer-reviewed journals, community services, experience or professional affiliation, conference attendance etc.
• Evidence of ability to teach and work with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience with /or online teaching platforms preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to build successful relationships with diverse student populations.

The ideal candidate should:

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
• Be relationally oriented, with professional experience in counseling.
• Have teaching and clinical supervision of counselors-in-training experience.
• Have a strong understanding of the CACREP standards and policies.
• Have experience serving and developing diverse adult learners.
• Have experience with versatile instruction methods, including online formats.
• Have at least a basic understanding of Adlerian psychology and be willing to develop this competence further.
