ABOUT THE POSITION:
Long Beach Community College District is currently seeking one (1) full-time tenure track American Sign Language instructor commencing with the 2027 Spring semester. The primary teaching assignment involves instructing lecture and laboratory courses within the American Sign Language (ASL) discipline. These courses cover the first two years of instruction in American Sign Language, as well as an introduction to Deaf Cultures. They are transferable to the four-year university and lead to an Associates Degree of Arts in American Sign Language and Deaf Studies. This assignment also includes curriculum development, specifically in the development of ASL-English Interpreting courses. Furthermore, it includes participation in the shared governance process through work in normal professional activities, committee work, student activities, and professional development, as well as helping supervise the ASL-Deaf Studies program.
