Dietary Aide
Location: Calvin Community – Des Moines, Iowa
Position Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM, including every other weekend
Position Summary:
Calvin Community, a not-for-profit senior living community located in the heart of Des Moines' Beaverdale neighborhood, is seeking a dependable and compassionate Dietary Aide to join our Dining Services team. Our mission is to provide high-quality care and services that support the health, comfort, and well-being of our residents.
The Dietary Aide plays an important role in creating a positive dining experience for residents by assisting with meal preparation, service, and maintaining a clean and sanitary dining environment. This position requires excellent customer service, attention to detail, and a commitment to resident satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with meal preparation and food service according to established menus and dietary guidelines.
- Deliver meals to residents in dining rooms and other designated areas while providing courteous and respectful service.
- Set up and clean dining areas before, during, and after meal service.
- Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment as assigned.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, serving, and dining areas.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
- Properly store food and supplies according to department standards.
- Assist residents with meal-related requests and communicate concerns to appropriate staff.
- Work collaboratively with dietary, nursing, and other departments to ensure resident satisfaction.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager or Supervisor.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
- Previous food service, dietary, restaurant, hospitality, or healthcare experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience working with older adults is a plus.
