Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support full-stack applications using Python, React, and AWS.
- Build modern web applications and backend services supporting investment research and analytics.
- Develop Python-based APIs and services, primarily using FastAPI.
- Build responsive front-end applications using React 18.
- Design, develop, and support applications running in AWS, including both existing platforms and new cloud-based solutions.
- Participate in AWS architecture and application design for new solutions.
- Work with AWS services including ECS, EC2, Lambda, S3, Step Functions, CloudWatch, and API Gateway.
- Develop scalable APIs, microservices, serverless applications, and data pipelines.
- Work with PostgreSQL and other data technologies supporting investment applications.
- Use Python data and analytics libraries such as Pandas and NumPy.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and contribute to DevOps and cloud deployment practices.
- Participate in Proofs of Concept (POCs) to evaluate new technologies and architectural approaches.
- Help modernize existing applications and develop new cloud-native solutions.
- Build applications that are secure, resilient, scalable, observable, and performant.
- Collaborate closely with developers, architects, Product Owners, Business Partners, and investment professionals.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions in an Agile development environment.
- Communicate directly with internal investment users, including portfolio managers and traders.
Must Have
- Senior-level software development experience.
- Strong professional experience developing applications with Python.
- Strong professional experience developing applications with React, preferably React 18.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud development.
- Experience working across the full application stack — front end, backend, APIs, data, and cloud.
- Experience with FastAPI or similar Python web frameworks.
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs, microservices, and/or serverless applications.
- Experience with AWS services such as ECS, EC2, Lambda, S3, Step Functions, CloudWatch, and API Gateway.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or another relational database.
- Experience building or supporting data-driven applications and data pipelines.
- Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices including CI/CD, testing, security, observability, scalability, and performance.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Some experience in Investment/Asset mgmt (companies like Blackrock or Fidelity)
Preferred Experience
- Experience in asset management, investment management,equities, quantitative research, trading, or financial technology.
- Experience supporting quantitative research, back-testing, signal generation, factor strategies, portfolio analytics, or investment applications.
- Understanding of investment concepts such as factor modeling, portfolios, signals, and back-testing.
- Experience working with Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, Boto3, Dask, or other Python data/analytics libraries.
- Experience with additional AWS services such as Glue or Athena.
- Experience with SNS/SQS and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with Okta, authentication, or session management.
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools such as Bamboo, Bitbucket, Artifactory, or Ansible.
- Experience designing optimized data architectures and caching strategies.
