Full Stack Software Engineer (Java / React / Node.js)
Location: 100% Remote
Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Experience Required: 5 years (3 years US-based)

We are seeking a skilled Full Stack Software Engineer to support the development and modernization of high-traffic, external-facing portal applications in a microservices environment. This role is back-end weighted, with roughly 70% Java development and 30% front-end work in React and Node.js, across modern frameworks and enterprise-scale, cloud-based platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable full stack applications using Java (Spring MVC/Spring Boot), React, and Node.js
• Develop and enhance external-facing portal applications that serve a large customer base
• Develop RESTful APIs and services in a microservices-based architecture
• Build, deploy, and support applications in a cloud environment
• Write and optimize stored procedures using SQL (Oracle and Db2)
• Create and maintain unit tests using JUnit and JEST
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate through GitLab
• Troubleshoot and support applications, including participation in a rotating on-call schedule
• Work closely with both front-end and back-end teams to deliver cohesive solutions across the stack

Required Skills

• 5 years of professional software development experience, with a strong back-end focus in Java
• Strong experience with Spring MVC and Spring Boot
• Hands-on experience with React and Node.js
• Experience building or supporting external-facing portal or customer-facing web applications
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and cloud-native development (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Solid understanding of REST architecture and integration patterns
• Strong SQL skills, including experience writing custom stored procedures
• Familiarity with GitLab and modern development workflows
• Ability to work independently and handle full-stack development without excessive oversight
• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team
