Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Bookkeeper to manage the financial records of our high-volume facility. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all financial data, from daily sales and membership dues to payroll and vendor payments.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in retail or hospitality accounting and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple revenue streams. You will work closely with the General Manager and ownership to provide the financial clarity needed to drive the business forward.
Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date ledgers, including accounts funneling in from parties, memberships, cafe sales, and retail.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage timely payments to vendors and partners while overseeing collections and billing for corporate events and school buyouts.
  • Payroll Management: Process bi-weekly payroll for a diverse team of hourly staff, entertainers, and salaried management, ensuring compliance with NYC labor regulations.
  • Bank & Credit Card Reconciliations: Perform regular reconciliations of all accounts to ensure data integrity and identify any discrepancies.
  • Revenue Tracking: Generate detailed reports tracking specific revenue categories (e.g., Party revenue vs. Walk-in play) to assist management in evaluating business performance.
  • Sales Tax & Compliance: Prepare and file necessary sales tax returns and assist with year-end tax preparation and financial audits.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports for review by ownership.
Requirements
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably within a high-volume retail, gym, or hospitality setting.
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Excel is required. Familiarity with POS systems (such as Clover or Square) and payroll platforms (such as Gusto or ADP) is a major plus.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
  • Education: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional certification (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper).
  • Communication: Ability to communicate financial data clearly to non-financial team members.
  • Integrity: High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive financial information.
Compensation: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
