Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing fast, friendly, and courteous customer service.
- Leads the daily operation of the Fuel Station and ensures consistent execution of company standards, policies, and procedures.
- Assists customers with fuel purchases, merchandise, payment transactions, and questions regarding Fuel Station services.
- Handles customer concerns and resolves issues appropriately, escalating matters to store management when necessary.
- Supervises, trains, schedules, and assigns duties to Fuel Station employees to ensure adequate coverage and efficient operations.
- Provides employees with coaching and direction regarding customer service expectations, safety procedures, cash handling, and operational standards.
- Monitors employee productivity and assists with evaluating overall performance.
- Ensures Fuel Station merchandise is properly stocked, rotated, priced, and displayed.
- Maintains appropriate inventory levels for merchandise and operational supplies.
- Monitors inventory, shrink, expenses, and department costs and takes appropriate action to minimize losses.
- Ensures accurate operation of Fuel Station registers, point-of-sale equipment, pumps, and related systems.
- Oversees cash-handling procedures, including register accountability, transactions, refunds, and other Fuel Station financial activities.
- Ensures compliance with company policies regarding cash handling, employee purchases, coupons, restricted product sales, and other applicable procedures.
- Ensures all age-restricted products are sold in accordance with company policy and applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and professional Fuel Station, including pump areas, kiosks, merchandise displays, equipment, storage areas, and surrounding property.
- Conducts routine inspections of the Fuel Station to identify cleanliness, maintenance, safety, or operational concerns.
- Reports equipment malfunctions, pump problems, spills, maintenance concerns, and other operational issues promptly.
- Ensures employees understand and follow established procedures for fuel spills, emergencies, fire prevention, and other safety-related situations.
- Maintains required safety equipment and ensures emergency equipment remains accessible and ready for use.
- Ensures required signage, pricing information, safety notices, and customer communications are properly displayed.
- Monitors fuel deliveries and assists with ensuring fuel inventory and delivery procedures are properly followed.
- Maintains required operational records, logs, inspections, and other Fuel Station documentation.
- Understands and follows Fuel Station opening and closing procedures.
- Ensures compliance with company sanitation, safety, security, and environmental standards.
- Communicates Fuel Station conditions, staffing concerns, equipment issues, and other operational needs to store management.
- Works cooperatively with store leadership and other departments to support overall store operations.
- Performs all duties with honesty and integrity and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong customer service, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to supervise, train, schedule, and provide direction to Fuel Station employees.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic math, cash-handling, and inventory-management skills.
- Ability to understand and follow Fuel Station safety and emergency procedures.
- Ability to monitor multiple operational responsibilities simultaneously.
- Ability to identify operational or safety issues and respond appropriately.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with store management.
- Working knowledge of point-of-sale systems and Fuel Station equipment.
- Ability to maintain department standards in a fast-paced customer-service environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, twisting, and repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull merchandise, supplies, and equipment as required.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and temperature conditions.
- Ability to move throughout the Fuel Station property to inspect pumps, equipment, customer areas, and merchandise.
- Ability to safely perform the physical duties associated with stocking, cleaning, merchandising, and maintaining the Fuel Station.
