FROZEN BUYER

POSITION SUMMARY

Under minimal supervision, this position sources, orders, replenishes and seeks new frozen seafood product. Frozen buyer will be expected to possess knowledge of market conditions for all frozen product sold by company, and will advise sales staff of changes in supply, costs, and prices to help achieve sales goals and margins. Frozen buyer will work closely with corporate frozen buyers to decrease costs and increase profits. All receiving paperwork and product labels will be created and compiled by frozen buyer and Freezer manager for receiving product into system. Frozen buyer will be responsible for managing all aspects of frozen operations with Freezer manager to maximize storage space, ensure correct filling of orders, supervise freezer clerks, and maintain compliance with HACCP and OSHA guidelines. Frozen buyer is responsible for bi-weekly inventory counts and reconciling inventory variances. Communicates with CEO, President, Vice-Presidents, CFO, Controller, and Sales team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

BUYER OF FROZEN SEAFOOD

• Projects and meets sales goals for frozen seafood department.
• Sources and orders all frozen products and maintains adequate inventory for sales staff.
• Maintains, updates and makes available price list of products being sold by company.
• Seeks new and exciting products and suppliers for sales to be able to offer a variety of choices at competitive prices to customers.
• Tracks shipments to ensure timely arrival and resolves all problems with freight.
• Communicates with suppliers to keep abreast of any trends, seasonal fluctuations and potential changes in industry. Capitalizes upon opportunities to increase margins on sales of frozen product.
• Takes advantage of holiday events to promote and increase sales of specific products.
• With sales manager, plans for holiday season promotions 3-4 months in advance. Locks in prices with suppliers for promotional items that will enable volume sales at acceptable margins for a three-month period.
• Motivate sales staff to incorporate frozen products into their rapport with customers.
• Be available to sales staff for customer visits.
• Develop programs for specific items for individual customers to increase orders going to one location.
• Follows and complies with all applicable Federal, State and Local regulations for frozen products being bought or sold, and workplace safety.
• Updates inventory information for Times Supermarket weekly.
• Directly responsible for coordinating the receiving, billing, and distribution of frozen product to outer island Times stores on a weekly basis.
• Supervises freezer staff. Responsible for work scheduling, disciplinary actions, employee evaluations, and controlling labor costs.

SALES PERSON DUTIES

• Assists sales team in compiling lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, or other sources.
• Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers with Sales team to solicit orders and talks with customers on sales floor and by phone.
• Displays or demonstrates product, using samples and emphasizes salable features.
• Helps Quote prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
• Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of production and delivery schedules.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

• Supervises Freezer Manager in warehouse duties and completing HACCP logs, inventory of frozen products in the freezer with the computer print out; and verifies receiving product with the delivery tags and Bill of Lading.
• Picks up product from 3^rd party facilities or other vendors if needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Associates degree and two to three years supervisory experience in the seafood industry, or high school diploma and four to six years experience in the seafood industry.
• Analytical ability to calculate margins, monitor profitability and manage inventory.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Competent in computer skills: Microsoft Office Application (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
• Prior sales experience, preferably in the seafood industry.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a high degree of judgment, especially when working with information that is confidential in nature.

INTERPERSONAL INTERACTION

This position reports directly to the President of Tropic Fish Hawaii, LLC. And Corporate Frozen Buyers. On a daily basis, the person in this position will interact with customers, vendors and employees from various departments within the company. Ability to effectively communicate with employees, vendors and customers is an essential part of this position.
