The developer will focus on building and enhancing user-facing GIS applications, maps, dashboards, forms, surveys, and workflow tools, with particular emphasis on application performance, usability, data integration, and operational efficiency. Position Summary
We are seeking a Frontend Application Developer with strong GIS application development experience to enhance internal Esri ArcGIS-based applications, mapping solutions, and operational workflows.
The developer will focus on building and enhancing user-facing GIS applications, maps, dashboards, forms, surveys, and workflow tools, with particular emphasis on application performance, usability, data integration, and operational efficiency.
The role will collaborate closely with GIS, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to develop applications that integrate with ArcGIS Enterprise and backend services and support the organization's evolving GIS requirements.
Key Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain frontend Esri ArcGIS/GIS applications and mapping solutions.
• Build and enhance maps, dashboards, separate GIS applications, forms, surveys, and workflow tools.
• Optimize GIS applications, maps, and dashboards for performance, responsiveness, and scalability, particularly when working with complex or large datasets.
• Develop user-friendly interfaces that improve the overall GIS user experience.
• Integrate frontend applications with Esri ArcGIS Enterprise, backend services, APIs, databases, and other enterprise systems.
• Support data integration and movement between GIS applications and enterprise data sources.
• Develop or support workflows using FME and other data integration/ETL technologies.
• Build tools that streamline intake, onboarding, request management, tracking, and workflow processes.
• Help standardize GIS request and workflow processes through application-based solutions.
• Enhance existing internal GIS applications based on user and operational requirements.
• Troubleshoot application, GIS, integration, and performance issues.
• Collaborate with GIS and DevOps/infrastructure teams to ensure applications work effectively within the ArcGIS Enterprise and Kubernetes-based environment.
• Support application testing, validation, deployment, and ongoing enhancements.
• Contribute to improving application usability, operational efficiency, and overall user experience.
• Work with GIS data and supporting services to ensure applications provide users with the information required for analysis and decision-making.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience developing frontend web applications.
• Experience developing applications involving GIS, mapping, or geospatial data.
• Experience developing and enhancing GIS maps and user-facing applications.
• Experience with GIS application performance optimization, including improving responsiveness of maps and dashboards.
• Experience building forms, surveys, intake, or workflow applications.
• Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and application usability.
• Experience integrating applications with backend services and APIs.
• Experience with Esri ArcGIS / ArcGIS Enterprise or other enterprise GIS platforms.
• Experience with FME or similar ETL/data integration platforms.
• Experience using Python for application customization, automation, or data integration.
• Experience working with GIS APIs and enterprise data sources.
• Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and/or BigQuery.
• Experience developing applications that consume or integrate geospatial services and data.
• Experience supporting applications deployed within Kubernetes/containerized environments.
• Experience with C# or Java is a plus.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
