    Position Summary

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our Home Health office team in Montrose. This is a full-time, in-office position focused on providing administrative, clerical, and operational support to patients, clinical staff, and providers.

    The Medical Assistant plays an important role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations by coordinating patient information, scheduling, insurance verification, documentation, communication, and medical supply orders. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, energetic, and comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform administrative, clerical, and operational tasks to support the Home Health office.
    • Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, providers, and clinical staff.
    • Answer incoming calls and appropriately triage and route calls to the appropriate department or clinical staff.
    • Update, verify, and maintain accurate patient demographic information.
    • Register and maintain patient accounts within the EMR system.
    • Schedule new, missed, and follow-up appointments as needed.
    • Collect necessary forms, information, and documentation prior to the start of a patient's care.
    • Verify insurance eligibility and coverage, including HMO, PPO, Medi-Cal, and Medicare plans.
    • Verify that required documentation is complete and available within the patient's chart.
    • Follow up on pending documentation, orders, referrals, and assigned tasks.
    • Monitor provider messages and daily task lists and ensure appropriate follow-up.
    • Communicate with patients, providers, clinical staff, insurance companies, and other healthcare professionals as needed.
    • Order and coordinate medical supplies for patients and the clinical team.
    • Maintain organized and accurate patient records while protecting patient confidentiality.
    • Navigate and update information within the agency's EMR system.
    • Follow HIPAA, agency policies, and applicable healthcare regulations.
    • Provide general administrative support to the Home Health team.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Requirements & Qualifications

    Valid Medical Assistant (MA) certification required.

    • Previous experience working in any healthcare setting. - preferred
    • Familiarity with common front-office medical duties, including patient registration, scheduling, data entry, and customer service.
    • Experience verifying insurance eligibility and coverage for HMO, PPO, Medi-Cal, and Medicare plans.
    • Familiarity with navigating and documenting in an EMR/EHR system.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills.
    • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and follow through on pending tasks.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling patient information.
    • Experience ordering medical supplies preferred.
    • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
    • Outgoing, energetic, professional, and positive attitude.
    • Comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced office environment.
    • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

    Location: Montrose, CASchedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:30 PMPosition: Full-Time, In-OfficePay: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
