Founding Designer – AI Video Startup

You design screens from scratch with real taste, and you make video yourself. Shape how people create video with AI.

A seed-stage applied-AI lab in San Francisco is building a desktop app for macOS that lets anyone make video with AI. You describe what you want and the app combines a large set of AI models, web search, motion graphics and editing, all running on your own GPU. The founders have built and sold consumer and media companies before. You'll be the first designer and own the core creation flow.

What you'll own

• The main flow for creating a video, from start to finish
• How the product looks and feels, so the founder can stop signing off every screen
• Same-day cycles with the developers: design in the morning, shipped by evening
• The central design question: how to keep the open-endedness of typing a prompt, yet guide new users enough that they never get stuck

Must-haves

• 3+ years of UI/UX or product design after your studies on a live product where you owned screens or flows yourself (internships don't count)
• A portfolio of screens you designed from scratch, with a distinctive style rather than adapted templates
• You check design decisions against session data and drop-off
• Working from the San Francisco office at least five days a week, 9-9-6
• Authorised to work in the US as a citizen, green card holder or on F-1 OPT, or holding a transferable H-1B or O-1

Bonus points

• Design work on a prompt-to-create product or a video or creative tool
• Your own active creator account (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or Reddit)
• Motion graphics or video editing experience
