Forward Deployment Engineer

Our client, a fast-growing data technology company, is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with customers, blending the skills of a solutions architect, a technical account manager, and a solutions engineer. You'll be a trusted advisor who helps customers design, build, and scale real-time data solutions, and you'll stay with them until those solutions are running successfully in production.

Forward Deployed Engineer
Pay: $120,000 – $200,000 per year
Location: Remote near New York, NY (candidates in the NYC area or a commutable distance preferred)

The Opportunity
Our client, a fast-growing data technology company, is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with customers, blending the skills of a solutions architect, a technical account manager, and a solutions engineer. You'll be a trusted advisor who helps customers design, build, and scale real-time data solutions, and you'll stay with them until those solutions are running successfully in production. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role for a seasoned technologist who is as comfortable at a whiteboard as in a terminal.
 
What You'll Be Doing

• Working side by side with customers to understand their systems, use cases, and goals, and turning them into scalable technical solutions
• Designing and building complete solutions that fit into customers' existing application and data environments
• Leading whiteboard sessions that turn ideas into architecture, technical specifications, and execution plans
• Acting as a proactive thought partner who brings ideas to the table instead of waiting for requirements
• Owning high-impact projects from the first concept through production
• Rolling up your sleeves for troubleshooting, performance tuning, and practical fixes when needed
• Helping customers prioritize their data initiatives and balance big ambitions with realistic delivery
• Partnering with sales, solutions engineering, product, and engineering teams to match customer needs with product capabilities
• Sharing what you learn from customers to help shape the product roadmap

 
What You Bring

• 10+ years in solution architecture, solutions engineering, or technical consulting, in pre-sales, post-sales, or both
• A strong foundation in databases, distributed systems, or software engineering
• A record of delivering production-grade solutions in customer-facing settings
• Experience integrating complex systems across data pipelines, applications, and infrastructure
• The ability to turn vague requirements into clear technical plans and drive them to completion
• Experience with enterprise customers, especially in financial services or high-tech, is highly preferred
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to guide technical and non-technical audiences
• A practical approach that balances innovation with realistic scoping, and keeps solutions both impactful and feasible

 
Work Setting

• Customer-facing role; candidates based in the NYC area or within commuting distance are preferred
