    If you enjoy hands-on work, solving mechanical problems, and working as part of a tight-knit crew, you’ll thrive as a Forging Cell Technician at Amsted Rail. You’ll run automated and manual forging equipment to produce precise rail components, keeping safety, quality, and throughput front and center.

    Can you see yourself doing this?

    • Launching programs on control units, then dialing in machine parameters (manual or automatic) to hit spec.
    • Measuring workpieces with gauges per our quality plan and rejecting anything that shows defects.
    • Monitoring transfer conveyors, listening for abnormal sounds like excessive vibration, and correcting issues fast.
    • Supporting changeovers with setup personnel and selecting the right hand and power tools for the job.
    • Lifting and positioning components by hand or with hoists/cranes.
    • Documenting production runs in the company computer system and staying aligned with operators, setup, and supervisors.
    • Understanding the full sequence of operations and final dimensions for each finished part.
    • Maintaining performance even as physical demands and environmental conditions shift.
    • Pitching in with other duties as assigned.

    Department-specific work you’ll own

    • Select program into machine control units to start operation
    • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment
    • Troubleshoot part compliance and equipment problems

    Essential Functions

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without accommodation.

    What you bring

    • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & background screening
    • Comfort lifting, pushing, and pulling 10 to 50 lbs.
    • Willingness to wear all department-required, employer-provided PPE.
    • Ability to be on your feet and moving throughout the department for the duration of the shift.
    • Mechanical aptitude; experience in an industrial setting is a plus.
