Forensic Attorney

The incumbent in this position provides legal representation to the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (Agency) under the direction of the General Counsel. The work you will do includes representing the Agency in litigation in various forums, analyzing legal issues, providing legal advice and guidance, conducting legal research, interpreting statutes, reviewing regulations, rules and operating procedures, developing legislation, reviewing proposed legislation, implementing new legislation, reviewing existing statutes, drafting and reviewing proposed rules, participating in rule development, rule workshops and rule hearings, drafting and reviewing contracts, and performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications include a minimum of 2 years of experience as an attorney and a valid driver's license or other reliable means of transportation to travel for work purposes. Knowledge of electronic case research and legal document preparation, the law regarding public records and its exemptions, HIPAA, Medicaid law, Sunshine law, laws and ethics in government, court, administrative and legal procedure is required. Ability to communicate with and train non-legal personnel and demonstrate skills in good research and writing.
