SummaryForeman I - Auto Shop, under the general supervision of the Operations Manager, assigns, reviews, and supervises work performed by technicians in the daily maintenance and repair of city vehicles and equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervises technicians engaged in the repair and maintenance of light duty and automotive equipmentServes as customer service representative for the shopCoordinates and reviews equipment maintenance, including recommendations for replacement as neededEnsures accuracy and completion of equipment inspections, reviews recommended parts and orders parts for workorders and supplies as requiredCoordinates outside warranty and repair workReviews invoices, work orders, consumption reports, and demand forecasts to estimate peak delivery periods and issues work assignments to ensure targeted productivity goals & standards are met or exceededPerforms repairs and participates in completion of work ordersPerforms inspections of completed repairs to ensure quality of repair and suitability for vehicle return to serviceEnsures technician certification complianceUses fleet management system to record job order informationGathers estimated job repair times for use in the billing processUpdates technicians of shop productivity and shop performance goalsTrains technicians in the repair and reconditioning of automobiles, mowers, and other specialized equipmentDemonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processesMonitors spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgetsInspects operational areas for adherence to safety standardsFollows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelinesPerforms other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalentThree (3) years of experience in maintenance and repair of automotive or heavy duty equipmentOne (1) year of experience in a supervisory/foreman role
Certifications, Licenses and Registrations
EPA Section 609 CertificationASE A4, A5, A6 & A7 Certifications (preferred)
