Sterling Medical is seeking Food Service Workers to support Nutrition and Food Services (NFS) at the VA Medical Center.
Position Details
Position: Food Service Worker
Locations: Palo Alto & Menlo Park, CA
Openings: 3 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) positions
Schedule: Various shifts, Sunday–Saturday
Hours: 5:30 AM–7:30 PM, depending on assigned shift
Weekend/Holiday Work: May be required
Advance Scheduling: Schedules will be provided at least two weeks in advance
Certification: Current ServSafe Food Handler certification/training required

Job Responsibilities
The Food Service Worker will support daily Nutrition and Food Services operations and may be responsible for:
Assembling patient meal trays according to patient tray tickets, menus, and established portion requirements.
Preparing and placing entrees, meats, potatoes, vegetables, salads, desserts, beverages, condiments, tray ware, and serving utensils on meal trays.
Delivering meal trays to patient wards and dining rooms throughout the facility.
Breaking down and cleaning the tray line following meal service.
Performing various duties in the dish room, including:
Scraping trays
Sorting and stacking tray ware
Racking items for the dish machine
Removing clean tray ware from the dish machine
Cleaning and storing pots and pans in designated areas.
Receiving and storing food deliveries and supplies in walk-in refrigerators and freezers.
Maintaining clean and sanitary food service areas.
Performing other food service duties as assigned.
