Food Service Worker (Part-Time)

The Food Service Worker works under the direction of the Food Operations Supervisor. Responsible for preparation and serving of meals on-site. Must adhere to food service practices in compliance with Medina County Health District, Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging (WRAAA) and Ohio Department of Aging (ODA), and the Medina County Senior and Adult Services mandates and directives.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for daily service provision of meals at the Medina Senior Center including Title III home-delivered and congregate meal program, including food preparation, serving meals and clean-up.
• Adherence to all food service practices, including compliance with Health District, WRAAA and ODA mandates. Attendance at in-service and other meetings as required.
• All other duties as required by the Food Operations Supervisor and Director.

Qualifications:

• Graduate from high school or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain reliable transportation.
• Some cooking experience required. Familiarity with commercial cooking equipment, batch cooking or prep experience recommended.
• Ability to effectively communicate with the public, making observations and referrals when necessary
• Ability to work with limited supervision
• Shares and safeguards client information with appropriate agencies/staff when necessary
• Basic math skills; basic computer skills
• Knowledge of safety procedures, including basic first aid and CPR.
• Some cooking experience required. Familiarity with commercial cooking equipment, batch cooking or prep experience recommended.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the public.
• Frequently required to talk or hear, stand, walk, use stairs, sit; use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Standing may be for long periods of time.
• Exposed to equipment generating heat and cold.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Hours: 4 days per week (16-20 hours per week)

Starting Rate: $16.00/hr
