    Position Title: Batch Cook - Child Nutrition Program

    Location: Overton ISD (Early Childhood-12th Grade)

    Position Type: Full-Time

    Reports To: Cafeteria Director

    About the Role

    Overton ISD is seeking a dependable, team-oriented Batch Cook to join our Child Nutrition team. This position plays a key role in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for students ranging from early childhood through 12th grade. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for feeding children, strong organizational skills, and the ability to adapt to a changing daily menu and production needs.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare and cook large quantities of food items according to established recipes and production schedules.
    • Assist with recipe adjustments to meet federal nutrition guidelines and student preferences.
    • Ensure proper portion control, food safety, and sanitation practices in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
    • Work collaboratively with Child Nutrition staff to receive deliveries, store supplies, and maintain an organized kitchen.
    • Float between food preparation, cooking, serving, and clean-up duties as needed based on menu and staffing requirements.
    • Maintain accurate production and temperature records.
    • Support special dietary needs or substitutions for students as directed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Director.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
    • Previous food preparation or cooking experience in a school, institutional, or commercial kitchen (preferred but not required).
    • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lift up to 40 pounds.
    • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
    • Dependability, flexibility, and a positive attitude.

    Schedule & Compensation

    • Full-time, following the school calendar.
    • Typical hours: Early morning to mid-afternoon (exact schedule to be determined).
    • Competitive pay based on experience and district pay scales.
