This is a Labor Intensive position which requires a drug and physical exam for employment.

This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill Part-Time assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. Job Description Summary

FOOD LINE SERVER

The Food Line Server position is responsible for providing food and wait-staff service for special events in college dining and conference rooms. Ensure food is properly handled in accordance with sanitation standards, and maintained at correct temperatures. Wait, bus and food service areas Keep work area clean. Inform supervisor of supply and equipment needs. The Food Line Server is responsible for providing quick, courteous, and efficient service at the counter or service line in the café or restaurant at the Hospitality and Culinary Institute. This position supports the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management programs by serving food and beverages to guests in a fast-casual setting while modeling professionalism and service excellence for students. The Food Line Server helps ensure smooth operations during high-traffic periods and contributes to a positive customer experience. Perform additional related duties as assigned.

  • Food & Beverage Service: Prepare food service areas according to menu needs and to meet service standards. Set up dining room and service stations with appropriate utensils, condiments, linens, and tableware.· Greet guests and take orders at the counter or service line with a friendly and professional attitude. Serve prepared menu items, including hot and cold meals, beverages, Handle portioning and plating according to culinary standards and presentation guidelines. Service dining and conference room facilities for catered events. Assist with set up of tables and furniture in party configurations and preparation of dining tables by spreading tablecloths, preparing and setting silver services and napkins, glassware, and condiments. Assist with simple food preparation as needed. Collect food items from kitchen to match line service and event menu and transports to service/dining areas. Operate POS system for accurate order entry and payment processing.
  • Customer Experience: Answer questions about menu items, daily specials, ingredients, and dietary accommodations. Ensure customer satisfaction by resolving concerns promptly and courteously. Maintain a clean, well-organized service area and display counter. Replenish serving stations, condiment areas, napkins, utensils, and other customer needs. and grab-and-go options.

CASHIER

The Cashier position is responsible for following proper operating and reporting procedures, including daily opening, balancing, and closing of the register. Ensure accuracy in order entry and payment collection. Prepare daily sales reports as required by the department. Alert supervisors to any discrepancies or system issues. Perform additional related duties as assigned.

  • Customer Service & Sales: Greet guests warmly, take orders as needed, and handle transactions efficiently and accurately using the POS system. Provide receipts, make change, and assist with credit/debit card transactions in compliance with college procedures. Answer customer questions about menu items, prices, ingredients, and specials. Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor with all customers, including students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Cash Handling & Reporting: Follow proper cash handling procedures including daily opening, balancing, and closing of the cash register. Ensure accuracy in order entry and payment collection. Prepare daily cash and sales reports as required by the department. Alert supervisors to any discrepancies or system issues.
  • Dining Room & Front-of-House Support: Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the front counter, dining room, and service area. Help with basic stocking, refilling condiments, and maintaining display items. Support service flow by coordinating with servers, bussers, and kitchen staff. Assist with setup and breakdown for lunch service and events as needed.

FOOD PREPARER/DISHWASHER

This Food Preparer/Dishwasher position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen and dishwashing areas, ensuring that all cookware, utensils, and service ware are properly cleaned, sanitized, and organized. The Food Preparer/Dishwasher helps maintain a safe and efficient work environment while contributing to the overall success of the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management programs and its student learning experience, and orderly conditions of work areas. Additional duties include, but are not limited to: collecting dirty dishes, machine set up, loading and operating the dish-washing machine. The Food Preparer/Dishwasher will also be responsible for distributing clean items to appropriate areas, assisting with food preparation, food display and service. Perform additional related duties as assigned.

  • Ingredient Preparation & Station Setup: Wash, peel, chop, and slice fruits, vegetables, meats, and seafood. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients.
  • Sanitation & Cleaning: Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, trays, and kitchen equipment using commercial dish machines and manual washing methods. Ensure all items are cleaned, sanitized, and stored correctly according to health and safety standards. Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing area, floors, sinks, walls, and garbage receptacles. Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, drains, and floors at the end of each service or shift.
  • Kitchen Support: Assist with basic kitchen tasks such as garbage disposal, recycling, and organizing clean equipment. Deliver clean dishes and equipment to appropriate stations in both front and back of house. Help set up dishwashing and sanitation stations prior to service. Alert supervisors to broken or damaged equipment or supply shortages.

DINING ROOM ATTENDANT/BUSSER

This Dining Room Attendant/Busser position is responsible for ensuring the dining room/service area is properly set, clean, and stocked for service, while assisting servers, bussers, and student workers throughout meal periods and special events. Perform additional related duties as assigned.

  • Dining Room Readiness & Cleanliness: Set up the dining room before service, including placing linens, flatware, glassware, arranging furniture. and décor according to service standards. Keep tables, chairs, floors, and surrounding areas clean and organized throughout the shift. Reset tables between guests quickly and efficiently to maintain service flow. Ensure that service stations are stocked with necessary supplies such as napkins, utensils, condiments, and water pitchers. Maintain cleanliness of the dining room, service stations, and restrooms during service hours. Sweep, mop, and clean spills or debris to ensure guest and staff safety. Assist with closing duties, including wiping down tables, emptying trash, and restocking supplies.
  • Guest Support & Hospitality: Greet guests when needed and direct them to seating as appropriate. Refill water glasses, beverages, and bread baskets as needed to support servers and ensure guest satisfaction. Remove dirty dishes, utensils, and glassware and transport them to the dishwashing area. and support the server team in delivering a positive guest experience. Respond promptly to guest requests or alert appropriate staff for assistance. Maintain a warm, courteous, and professional demeanor at all times.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION THAT APPLIES TO ALL POSITIONS:

  • Valid Food Handler certification: documentation of current certification is required prior to first day of employment.
  • Health & Safety: Follow all food safety, sanitation, and chemical handling protocols in compliance with local health department and ServSafe standards. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a safe working environment. Help ensure compliance with fire and safety codes in dishwashing and storage areas.
  • Team & Instructional Support: Work collaboratively with culinary students, faculty, and staff in a learning-focused environment. Model professionalism, cleanliness, excellent customer service, high service standards, and teamwork for students. Support student learning by maintaining an organized and functional workspace that promotes efficiency and safety.

Minimum Qualifications

FOOD LINE SERVER: Six (6) months of experience as a food server/waiter in a food service or dining establishment. Ability to read and follow instructions.

CASHIER: Six (6) months of experience as a cashier in a medium to large-volume operation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Basic math skills and attention to detail. Ability to handle transactions quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment. Professional appearance and customer-focused attitude.

FOOD PREPARER/DISHWASHER: Six (6) months of experience in simple cooking, food preparation, food display and service. Ability to read and learn recipes and to prepare/process simple foods and salads. | Six (6) months experience dish washing, food preparation, food display and service. Ability to read and follow written instructions, and work both independently and as part of a team. Strong work ethic and reliability. Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.

DINING ROOM ATTENDANT/BUSSER: Previous restaurant or hospitality experience preferred but not required. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Dependable, punctual, and customer-service oriented.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Preferred Qualifications

FOOD LINE SERVER: High school diploma or GED equivalent. More than six (6) months of experience as a food server/waiter in a food service or dining establishment, including set ups and food service for catered events.

CASHIER: High school diploma or GED equivalent. More than six (6) months of experience in a food service or dining establishment. Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures.

FOOD PREPARER/DISHWASHER: High school diploma or GED equivalent. More than six (6) months of experience in simple cooking, food preparation, food display and service. Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or dishwashing role. Knowledge of sanitation procedures and food safety practices. Interest in culinary or hospitality industry a plus.

DINING ROOM ATTENDANT/BUSSER: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Previous restaurant or hospitality experience.
