Primary Job Functions:
The primary function of the Food Service Personnel is to prepare and serve food that is nutritious for school programs while maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe food service program. As Food Service Personnel, you will be required to maintain regular and punctual attendance. It will be an expectation that assigned jobs are completed and in a timely manner while taking pride in the work you do. You must always be an example of exemplary adult behavior and project a genuine care and concern for all students. Appropriate grooming and appearance are required.
Salary and Benefits:
Lane: Hourly pay starting at $17.00.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Assigned Workday Calendar: 182 days (School Year Days)
Job Status: Part-Time - Hours typically vary between 21.25 - 28.75, based on current needs of the school corporation.
Schedule: Monday - Friday (Report times will vary based on final building assignment.)
Benefits: Part-time positions are eligible for supplemental benefits such as vision, life insurance, disability, etc. Eligible for PERF Retirement. (Not eligible for medical and dental insurance.)
Paid Time Off Benefits: Eligible
Holiday Pay: Not Eligible
Qualifications:
Education: High school education or equivalent is required. Advanced training is desirable.
Certification: None is required.
Experience: None is required but employees must be willing to accept instruction and learn from experience employees and supervisors.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Experienced in food preparation and service, with a commitment to creating a positive and supportive environment for individuals utilizing the school lunch program.
- Ability to maintain a positive relationship with pupils, staff, parents, and the community.
Essential Functions:
- Assisting on the serving line.
- Assisting with clean-up which may include mopping floors, cleaning equipment, cleaning restroom, working in the dish room, sweeping floors, and cleaning the teachers lounge.
- Food preparation as directed.
- Cashiering
- Operating equipment in the kitchen and cafeteria area.
- Storing clean dishes and equipment.
- Storing stock items (freezer, dry storage, cooler, and chemicals).
- Assisting in recordkeeping and reports.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Take pride in work.
- Complete assigned job and be willing to help wherever needed.
- Be an example of exemplary adult behavior for students and project a genuine care and concern for all students.
- Comply with all Avon Community School Corporation policies, guidelines, procedures, and protocols.
- Participate in professional development, as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
