FOOD SERVICE WORKER

DEFINITION OF POSITION

Under the direction of the Cook/Cafeteria Manager, assists in the operations of the Food Service Program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assists in preparing, cooking, and serving a variety of food

2. Assists in keeping cafeteria dining room and kitchen clean

3. Washes and dries dishes, pots and pans, trays, silverware, glasses, etc

4. Sets tables, places food on counter and steam tables, and handles salad bar

counter

5. Cleans and prepares vegetables

6. Unpacks and stores supplies

7. Lifts moderately heavy containers of food and materials

8. Performs other related duties as required

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Satisfactory completion of courses in Sanitation, Nutrition, and Safety
• Knowledge of modern kitchen equipment, storing of foodstuffs
• Ability to follow menus
• Ability to work cooperatively with principals, teachers, students, and other personnel
• Ability to work rapidly and with frequent interruptions

EDUCATION

1. High school diploma or the equivalent

EXPERIENCE

• Two years of experience in a school Food Service program or similar work
