Job Title: Food Service AssistantLocation: Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction (ACAGJ)FLSA Status: Non-ExemptReports to: HeadmasterWork Hours/Days: M-F, Typical School days, and professional development days per worksite calendar approximately 25 hrs a week Essential Functions:Supervision:Monitor students during lunch and recess to ensure their safety and appropriate behaviorEnforce school rules and policies to maintain a respectful and orderly environmentAddress any behavioral issues promptly and report them to the appropriate school staffStudent Interaction:Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where all students feel safe and respectedEncourage positive social interactions among students and help mediate conflicts when necessaryAssist students with any needs or issues that arise during breakfast, lunch and recessSafety and First Aid:Ensure all playground and cafeteria areas are safe and free of hazardsProvide basic first aid when necessary and report any injuries to school administrationBe prepared to respond to emergencies in accordance with school policies and proceduresCleanliness and Organization:Assist in the setup and cleanup of the cafeteria before and after meal periodsEncourage students to clean up after themselves and maintain cleanliness in eating and play areasReport any maintenance or repair needs to the school administrationCommunication:Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents as neededParticipate in staff meetings and training sessions as requiredCollaborate with other aides and school personnel to ensure a cohesive and supportive environmentMaintains a collegial, professional relationship with students, parents, and colleagues as a partner in the community of learnersPosition Requirements:Loyalty to Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools, Inc.'s (ACACS) mission and visionAssists staff and volunteers in inventory control.Serves food per breakfast and lunch guidelines.Supports the tracking of students participating in the breakfast and lunch program.Cleaning and sanitizing the multi purpose room.Supports teachers and staff in maintaining an orderly lunch room environment.Commitment to model moral character in line with the school's core virtuesAdherence to all ACACS policies, including but not limited to the Employee Handbook, Family Handbook, and all applicable school and board policiesExcellent interpersonal and oral communication skillsProven ability to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to develop positive and professional relationships with students and colleaguesCreative problem-solving skillsComplete all required training and provide documentation Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operationsDemonstrate proficiency in both written and spoken English to effectively perform their job responsibilities and communicate in the workplacePerform other duties as assigned Physical Requirements:Must be able to lift up to 25 poundsMust be able to traverse the classroom and the schoolProlonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, or standing Must be able to supervise outdoor recessMandatory Background Checks: In alignment with our commitment to student safety, all candidates are required to undergo a comprehensive background check, which includes reviewing criminal records and will require fingerprinting.
