Purpose of Position/Summary: The incumbent works as a Rapid Response Team
(RRT)/Produce Safety Assistant with the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) Food
Protection Division (FPD). Under the supervision of the RRT/Produce Safety
Program Manager, this person acts as an assistant for the Produce Safety Progam
as well as the RRT in order to complete duties efficiently and fill gaps as
needed. The incumbent will: -- Provide a wide range of administrative assistance
to two programs within the Food Protection Division. -- Act as a liaison between
program or department administration, state agencies, and other stakeholders. --
Research and prepare various reports for manager. -- Communicates with the
public or other agency representatives and directs incoming correspondence to
the appropriate individual. -- Reviews and inspects incoming documents for
accuracy, completeness, and to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state,
and local rules and regulations. Obtains necessary approvals if needed. --
Coordinates clerical and administrative functions. -- Assist in RRT program
development and process improvement to include complaints, environmental
assessments, recalls, tracebacks, sampling, training, and exercises. -- Assist
with development and participate in RRT food and feed emergency exercises as
well as the the Food Safety and Defense Task Force meetings. -- Assist with
development and distribution of educational materials. -- Support retail food,
manufactured food, and produce farm inspections. -- Support and assist with food
sample collection and swab sample collection. -- Assist manager with Produce
Safety Program Standards to ensure compliance. --Assist with managing the
Produce Safety Farm Inventory. -- Conduct specific projects and other duties as

These programs involve several variables that are interrelated. Responsibility:
The individual will work with employees in the programs as well as other
programs with the Division and with other agencies or departments as well as the
general public to interpret program policy and procedures and maintian
coordination of work. The individual will receive specific instructions on
unusual problems and must refer all deviations from the norm to the
manager.Results are reviewed for soundness of judgement, adherence to
directions, and technical competence. Personal Work Relationships: The
individual will be expected to partner with agency personnel and related
