Food Plant Reliability Mechanic

A day in the life at Cibo Vita, Totowa, NJ

When our production lines power up at our Totowa facility, you’re the expert who keeps them humming. You’ll partner with Senior Mechanics and the Maintenance Supervisor to inspect, tune, and repair the equipment that crafts our Nature’s Garden healthy snacks—helping consumers "Snack With Purpose." Your day blends hands-on diagnostics, thoughtful preventive maintenance, and quick-response troubleshooting in a fast-paced food manufacturing setting.

What you’ll tackle

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and safety checks across production machinery and facility systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues; identify root causes and execute lasting repairs.
• Install, align, adjust, or relocate equipment to meet production demands and improve throughput.
• Interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, manuals, and engineering specs to guide work.
• Ensure equipment and infrastructure comply with OSHA and local safety requirements; maintain a clean, safe workspace.
• Document work orders, parts usage, and equipment status in the CMMS; keep supervisors and production leaders informed.
• Contribute ideas to enhance reliability, uptime, and product quality through continuous improvement.
• Build your expertise through ongoing training and learning opportunities.

What you bring

• High School Diploma.
• 3+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing (food/CPG preferred).
• Strong grasp of mechanical systems, electrical components, pneumatics, hydraulics, and industrial troubleshooting.
• Hands-on skill with motors, belts, chains, bearings, sensors, valves, and production machinery repairs.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and OEM manuals.
• Knowledge of food safety practices and safe machine operation standards.
• Comfort working in a high-volume, fast-moving production environment; decisive problem solver.
• Basic computer skills for work orders and maintenance logs; CMMS experience.
• Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, control panels, and automation troubleshooting.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.

Physical and environmental

• Lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Frequent bending, twisting, walking, and standing for 8–10+ hours.
• Work around conveyors and industrial machinery in variable temperatures.

Shifts and location

• Ability to work any assigned shift (day, night, or overnight).
• On-site role in Totowa, NJ 07512; reliable commute required.
