BlueWave is hiring an Instrument Fitter for an aerospace client based in South Texas. As an Instrument Fitter, you will fabricate and install stainless steel tubing and support mechanical piping installation in an industrial environment. This position requires precise field layout, careful assembly, and a strong commitment to system cleanliness and safe work practices.
Responsibilities
- Measure, bend, fabricate, and install stainless steel tubing ranging from ¼ inch to 1 inch.
- Assemble and install mechanical piping systems, fittings, flanges, and other bolted connections.
- Fabricate and install pipe supports and structural support frames.
- Perform accurate field layout, measurement, alignment, and torqueing of tubing and piping systems.
- Operate drilling equipment and hand and power tools safely.
- Maintain system cleanliness and follow foreign-object-debris prevention practices.
- Perform installation work at heights using appropriate fall protection.
- Support daily tubing, piping, and mechanical installation activities.
Requirements
- Five or more years of instrument fitting, mechanical piping, fabrication, or comparable hands-on experience.
- Experience with tubing, piping, mechanical connections, or related industrial systems.
- Ability to accurately measure, lay out, bend, fabricate, and install stainless steel tubing.
- Understanding of mechanical bolt-up procedures and support installation.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and field-layout tools.
- Qualification in fall protection and the ability to work safely at heights.
- Ability to work outdoors in demanding conditions.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to system cleanliness.
- Availability to work a day shift consisting of five 10-hour days, with occasional 12-hour days as needed.
- Interest in potential conversion to permanent employment.
