Flowforming CNC Process Engineer

A day in the life

You start your shift by checking that Lockout/Tagout and electrical safe work practices are in place. After a quick Elimination of Waste team huddle aligned to the company’s goals and objectives, you head to your assigned flowforming equipment. You run PM (preventive) and PD (predictive) tasks, capture downtime accurately, and submit clear work orders so the entire maintenance system stays reliable and traceable.

On the floor, you’re the go‑to resource for advanced flowform troubleshooting and dimensional control. Using CMM/gaging results and blueprint specifications, you pinpoint the root cause through a disciplined process of elimination, then repair or modify CNC programs and mechanical attributes to bring parts back within tolerance. You continually refine machine functions, process flow, and part programming—applying a continuous improvement mindset to the CNC machining process every step of the way.

What you’ll own

• Champion lean manufacturing principles and participate actively in Elimination of Waste meetings
• Support and advance the company’s goals and objectives through daily actions
• Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout and electrical safe work practices
• Use established maintenance systems and documentation (PM checklists, downtime recording, work orders)
• Execute PM/PD tasks, implement corrective actions, and recommend equipment improvements
• Lead advanced troubleshooting of flowform operations and dimensional issues
• Repair/modify CNC programs to maintain dimensional requirements
• Read and interpret blueprints and inspection reports
• Understand machine functions, overall process flow, and part programming; create basic programs for new parts
• Apply a rigorous process-of-elimination approach to problem solving
• Report directly to the Tooling Supervisor; perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor; take direction from other Supervisors, Managers, and Team Leads as needed

What you’ll bring

• Experience in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment
• Hands-on CNC program modifications and tooling improvement experience
• Proficiency with a computer, printer, calculator, and machinery control panels
• Ability to interpret CMM or gaging information and adjust CNC programs and mechanical attributes within a FlowForm machine
• Clear, confident communication with cross-functional teams and the production workforce
• Readiness for extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, stooping, lifting, and repetitive motion tasks
• Excellent manual dexterity; able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently
• Willingness to work overtime when required
