Position Goal:
The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving balanced, nutritious, and appealing meals in compliance with federal, state, and district nutritional standards. This position ensures that meals are nutritious, appealing, and served in a positive environment that supports student well-being and academic success. Ensures the safe, efficient, and sanitary operation of a school-based cafeteria while supporting a positive environment that promotes student well-being and academic success.
Required
High school diploma or GED.
Demonstrated knowledge of student nutritional programs and school meal preparation.
Proficient in basic computer applications (Word, Excel, and point-of-sale systems).
Physically able to perform all required duties safely and effectively.
Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development in food service operations.
Valid and current New Mexico driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in Food Safety for New Mexico (SERV Safe or equivalent).
Two or more years of experience working in a school cafeteria or food service environment.
Experience with inventory control, point of sale systems, and kitchen equipment operation.
Knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Programs, health codes, and state food service regulations.
