    Overview
    Our client is seeking a Float RN to provide professional nursing care within the assigned department. The ideal candidate will have experience in ED and MS/PCU, be proficient in patient assessment, pain management, and medication administration. This position requires flexibility, organization, and the ability to function well under stressful situations. The Resource RN will be responsible for coordinating care planning, communicating with physicians, and providing care that meets the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care.
     
    Key Responsibilities
    Provides professional nursing care within the department assigned
    Coordinates care planning with other disciplines
    Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs of patients
    Communicates with physicians regarding changes in patient's status
    Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment
    Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy
    Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain
    Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques
    Educates the patient and family regarding pain management
    Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment
    Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age
    Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition
    Follows the SIX (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors
    Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning
    Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills
    Demonstrates ability to perform treatments and provide services to level licensure
    Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias and treats appropriately based upon ACLS protocol
    Ability to monitor hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interpret the results
    Ability to formulate an individualized plan of care, revise plan as indicated by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness
    Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning
    Family is included in teaching as appropriate
    Provides care to patients with compromised nutritional/metabolic status
    Provides care to patients requiring extensive fluid and electrolyte management
    Communicates appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, co-workers and physicians
    Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs
    Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures both in the PCU and other departments
    Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations
    Other duties as assigned
     
    Schedule and Shift Details
    12hr Nights, 36 hours guaranteed weekly, Every other weekend
